Huawei P10 lite: the stunning midranger

Huawei has launched a new mid-range device, dubbed the Huawei P10 lite

The current Huawei Flagship, the Huawei P10 is a pretty decent phone in itself. Now the company has come up with its lite, more budget friendly version, dubbed the Huawei P10 lite.

Unlike the higher end brother, this lite version comes with a standard – single primary camera setup, and cost cuttings are done on more than a thing or two, but that might help a particular range of people with a particular range of budget take interest in the device.

So is the phone any good? Let us dig down deep ⏬

Huawei P10 lite: The Design

Though the device falls under the same ‘P’ category, it does not follow the same design language. There are some pretty apparent design changes in the device: no physical home button, no USB-C charging port, and no dual back camera. The device is still all metal, and the fingerprint scanner is at the back of the device. The device uses on-screen navigation keys. The volume rocker and the power button, which is textured to make it easily distinguishable from the volume buttons, are on the right, while the left side has the sim tray. At the bottom, you will find the speaker grill and the micro USB port.

The device comes with two storage options ⥤ a 3 GB RAM/ 32 GB internal memory combination and a 4 GB/ 32 GB combination.

The fingerprint scanner is quite responsive and does the job fairly well done. It is placed well within the reach and aesthetically looks pleasing as well.

Huawei P10 lite: The Software

The P10 lite runs on Android 7.0 out of the box, with Emotion UI 5.1 on top of that. It is a heavily customized form of android, with some pretty useful tweaks, some not that useful as well. It will be a matter of choice more or less. The gesture features, for example, are pretty useful :  you can enable motions like “flip to mute” and “raise to ear” to answer calls. There is also the familiar Knuckle gestures which allow you to take a screenshot by double tapping the screen with your knuckle, or drawing a letter to open an app. You can disable both types of knuckle gestures if you find they misfire.

Huawei P10 lite: The Camera

There is a 12 megapixel camera on the rear, with a 1.25 micron pixel size on a 1/1.28 inch sensor. Apart from the modes like HDR and Panorama, there are lots of camera modes available which increase the productivity of the camera used in the P10 to a lot extent.

The 8 mp front camera takes decent selfies, with beautification mode, the images come out to be quite pleasing.
